Rain in the Desert

People take rain for granted.

People everywhere in the world when it's rainy:
"Ugh, my hair is going to be so frizzy today."
"Damnit, my commute is going to take forever today."
"Great. My clothes are going to be damp all day."

People in the desert when it's rainy:
"HALLEJULAH PRAISE THE GODS AND HEAVENS ABOVE AND THANK JESUS AND EVERYONE WHO DID RAIN DANCES AND EVERYONE WHO WASHED THEIR CARS TODAY." (And then you go outside and dance in the rain.)

Everyone in the desert is so happy when it rains. (Unless your spirit animal is Grumpy from the Seven Dwarves.) It's such a rare occurrence that it's celebrated almost as if it were a holiday.

So happy, in fact, that they become stupid.

See, when it rains, it pours.

I actually didn't end up going to school yesterday because the roads were all too flooded to drive there.   -insert dance party-

The desert celebrated a day of rain with an awesome sunset. (By the way, that "river" you see? It's actually a wash, which is basically a giant collection of run off. It's dry most of the time. But how cool is that?)

While the rest of the city was having an exciting and/or hectic day, I was at home on Pinterest (seriously -- what else?).

But what a wonderful day it was.
